The Aston Martin Vantage range has received its most comprehensive enhancement programme yet since 2008. Models throughout the range has received many improvements, and later this year will see the ultra-exclusive V12 Zagato assuming the role of flagship.
The revised 4.7 litre V8 in the entry-level Vantage now gives out 420hp at 7,300rpm and 469Nm of torque at 5,000rpm. Thankfully, the standard 6-speed manual 'box still comes as standard, while an automated manual transmission, the 7-speed Sportshift ll, is optional and replaces the 6-speed Sportshift.
The Vantage chassis, which features development from the Vantage S, has also been enhanced. A new steering column, re-valved power-steering pump and a quicker ratio of 15:1 instead of 17:1 as in the outgoing model gives the Vantage more precision and agility.
Up front, new 380mm two-piece ventilated cast-iron discs are fitted with 6 piston calipers and the braking system also includes Hill Start Assist (HSA). Tyres are 10mm wider than the previous model, increasing road-holding levels.
To reflect the performance, the baby Aston received a lower front bumper - with an aerodynamic splitter - which houses a larger air intake. At the rear is a diffuser to increase high-speed stability.
The Vantage S is tuned to produce 430hp at 7,300rpm and 490Nm of torque at 5,000rpm. The new 7-speed Sportshift ll comes as standard in this variant. A sports exhaust, unique to the Vantage S, provides a rousing soundtrack.
The interior of the Vantage S is sumptuously trimmed, and comes with a fully integrated satellite navigation system developed with Garmin as standard, along with Bluetooth and cruise control. Outside, carbon fibre detailing in the aerodynamic package makes this variant a highly appealing and distinguishable from the entry-level Vantage.
The V12 Vantage remains unchanged, although the flagship baton will be passed to the V12 Zagato. This exotic vehicle was produced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic DB4GT Zagato and caused a sensation when it won the prestigious Villa D'Este concours. First deliveries will commence later this year.
