Classified as a sports car, and produced by British car manufacturer Lotus (majority share was sold to Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Berhad [Proton], a Malaysian national car company listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange), the Lotus Evora was developed under the project name Project Eagle, and subsequently launched as the Evora on 22nd July 2008 at the British International Motor Show. With traditions of Lotus models starting with the letter 'E', the Evora was conceived through the marriage of the words Evolution, Vogue and Aura.
